Was ist mir J.S. Bach und was bedeutet er für unsere Zeit?

"What does Bach mean to me? Consolation. He gives me the belief that in art as in life the real truth cannot be ignored or suppressed, needs no human assistance but asserts itself through its own power, when its time comes." (Albert Schweitzer 1905)

The question "What does Bach mean to me and what does he mean to our age?" was the question put by Michael Gruber of ORGANpromotion to numerous personalities and to the concert and organising partners of the Albert Schweitzer Years 2013 and 2015.

The survey continues!

Bach's music is another world.... With him, we see life as if we were walking

on a height, surrounded by mild sunshine, and see it spread out at our feet

through blue mist.

Where his sounds affect people, they influence them in the sense of

internalization. He is a precious gift to our time, one of the lights that

shine in the darkness in which today's humanity must seek the path

of a deeper spirituality.

Who would ever want to fathom how it is possible that this music

makes our souls so peaceful and quiet ... But everyone who hears

it not only with the ear but also with the soul will experience that

he is walking on holy ground here and has in Bach a friend and

comforter to find the path of silence and peace.

Thus Bach is an end. Nothing comes from him; everything leads to him.
